The Revenue Engine
Most companies don't have a revenue problem. They have a revenue engine problem.
Six systems have to work together for growth to compound instead of just happening:
Sales process — repeatable without your best rep in the room
Sales talent — hired for the way you actually sell, not a generic "hunter" profile
Differentiation — sayable in one sentence, not buried in a deck
Pricing — moved on purpose, on a schedule, not forced by cost pressure
Retention — built starting at onboarding, not chased at renewal
New-market development — treated as a new process, not the old one on a new map
Most companies have one or two of these dialed in. The other four are quietly capping growth — and it usually doesn't look like a crisis. It looks like a plateau nobody can quite explain.
The pattern shows up constantly: a company doubles sales headcount before fixing the process those reps are supposed to run. Or takes one 20% price increase instead of five 4% ones, then spends two quarters managing the backlash instead of selling.
Which one is your bottleneck right now?
